Economics Arkansas is hosting a celebration for the 20th anniversary of the Stock Market Game at the Statehouse Convention Center’s Wally Allen Ballroom on Monday, May 13.
This luncheon will recognize the winners from all over the state of Arkansas and will feature Walmart CEO Doug McMillon as the keynote speaker. During the event, the top two regional winners for each division from the fall and spring sessions will honored for their achievements.
The Stock Market Game is a program that has students and teachers invest virtual money into bonds, stocks, and virtual funds. Each team starts the simulation by investing $100,000 in virtual money. The contest lasts 12 weeks during a given semester. However, Economics Arkansas also offers a year-long session running from September to April. Since 1999, over 145,000 Arkansas students have participated in the program.
Economic Arkansas is a nonprofit that has existed since 1962 with its goal to teach, “The importance of developing human capital, decision-making skills, financial literacy skills, and understanding the interdependence of the global market and our free market system.”
The event starts at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 13 Tickets are $75 for attendees and $30 for the winning students.
