Grant Tennille, Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas, has released a statement regarding the passing of longtime former State Senator Bobby Glover of Carlisle, who passed away on Wednesday Oct. 27 at the age of 85.
Glover served Arkansas as a mayor, state representative, state senator and vice chairman of the Board of Corrections, among his other pursuits and callings.
“Bobby Glover was elected Mayor of Carlisle in 1963, and continued to serve his fellow Arkansans for 58 years, including 28 years as a State Legislator and 10 years as a member of the Board of Corrections. He was a tireless champion for rural communities, a tough negotiator and a fearless advocate for the causes he supported,” said Tennille. “His mailing address has always been ‘P.O. Box 1, Carlisle, AR,’ which always seemed to me to be a perfect explanation of who he was as a person and a leader.”
