Former president of the Little Rock School District Board Dianne Curry has announced that she will run for U.S. Congress in the 2nd congressional district. Curry will run as a Democrat against incumbent French Hill, a Republican.
Curry, a Malvern native, was elected to the school board in 2006 and served three terms. She retired from state government after 27 years of service in education and the public audit of banks.
She was appointed to the Arkansas Division of Volunteerism by Gov. Mike Huckabee and reappointed by Gov. Mike Beebe. Curry now works with small businesses owners and families as a tax consultant.
Curry has served as a public school mentor and has been honored with the Little Rock PTA Council Lifetime Achievement Award. She has been involved with the Urban League of Little Rock and the Little Rock chapter of the NAACP. Sheâs an active member of Union A.M.E. Church in Little Rock.
