The DENSO North America Foundation has donated new state-of-the-art electronics laboratory equipment to engineering students at Arkansas State University.
George Harguess, site manager-operations for DENSO Manufacturing Arkansas in Osceola, announced the $48,500 grant to ASU. DENSO hires many ASU engineering graduates.
“For DENSO, it’s very important to recruit local talent,” said Harguess, who earned his engineering degree at ASU. “Hopefully this will lead to internships and other opportunities so we can establish a long-lasting partnership between DENSO and Arkansas State.”
Paul Mixon, professor of electrical engineering and interim dean, said, “We were delighted to initiate this partnership with the DENSO Foundation and DENSO Manufacturing Arkansas. This grant will allow us to purchase brand-new state-of-the-art equipment for our new digital electronics lab. We are very appreciative for DENSO’s support.”
He added the lab experience will be required for all electrical engineering students in the future.
DENSO is one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers of advanced automotive technology, systems and components in the areas of thermal, powertrain control, electronics and information and safety.
The company employs more than 500 people in Arkansas, where it produces heating, ventilation and air conditioning assemblies and new generation modular radiators for its North American customers.
