The Delta Center for Economic Development at Arkansas State University has named a new director for the Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) University Center.
Jarrett Free has appointed director for the program, which aims to provide resources within colleges and universities to “support regional economic development strategies in regions of chronic and acute economic stress.” The center provides services ranging from helping develop workforce development to leadership training, according to the center’s website.
Prior assuming his current position, Free served as the financial aid coordinator and associate director for ASU’s online services department. He previously was employed at Mississippi State University and the University of the Incarnate Word as a scholarship/financial aid adviser.
“After working at other institutions of higher education,” Free said. “I’ve realized that it takes more than just knowledge to help others. It takes relationships built on trust.”
He obtained a bachelor’s of business administration from Delta State University and a master’s degree in public administration from ASU.
