On Friday, March 6, First Community Bank celebrated the grand opening of their new branch in Saddle Creek Center at The Ranch with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony, Dale Cole, the chairman and CEO of First Community Bank, announced a $7 million dollar development plan for a one-stop financial center at the corner of Chenal Parkway and Rahling Road. It will also have a community space that will be open for public use 7 days a week.

Trump Signs $8.3 Billion Coronavirus Spending Bill Into Law
More than $8 billion has been allocated to combat the coronavirus outbreak in the United States in a new measure signed into law today.
On Friday, March 6, President Donald Trump signed a $8.3 billion spending bill that will provide funding to multiple federal agencies for developing and manufacturing vaccines and other preventative measures.

COVID-19 Not Detected in Arkansas; CDC Warns of Challenges Ahead
As of March 3, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) had not yet been detected in Arkansas, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported multiple other states had announced their first positive tests for COVID-19. CDC issued a warning that what is happening now in the United States may be the beginning of what has been seen abroad in countries where COVID-19 has spread, causing school and factory closings, travel restrictions and a broad range of business disruptions.
Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, speaking at a national press teleconference March 3, said that while the nation continues to take an aggressive national posture of containment, “we can and should be prepared for this new virus to gain a foothold in the United States.

French Company Provides Funding for U of A Endowed Professorship
A French company is funding a new endowed professorship and multiple research projects at the University of Arkansas.
Adisseo, a French company specializing in animal feed additives, has provided funding to the U of A, creating the Adisseo Endowed Professorship in Global Sustainable Poultry Nutrition. Michael Kidd, a professor of poultry nutrition, has been named to the position, which is a research professorship in the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, the Division of Agriculture’s research arm.
