Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub Developing Solar Power Plant
The Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub is going solar.
The North Little Rock-based maker space is partnering with Scenic Hill Solar to build a solar power plant that will provide electricity for its facilities. Scenic Hill Solar will be constructing a 72 kilowatt (kW) power plant that will produce 42 percent renewable energy that will power the Hub’s operations.

Immanuel Baptist Cuts Ribbon on New City Center
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Immanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock officially opened its new City Center to the public. Housed in the former Kroger on Shackelford, the City Center marks the culmination of nearly five years of planning and fundraising. Among the ribbon-cutting ceremony attendees were Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott and Governor Asa Hutchison.
According to City Center Director Traci Hogue, the new development allowed Immanuel Baptist to relocate and double the size of their food pantry and soup kitchen operations.

Bloomberg Mounting Massive Campaign Effort in Arkansas
Presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg is ramping up for a massive campaign in Arkansas. Bloomberg campaign officials say the effort is expected to be the largest ground effort in Arkansas during a presidential primary.
During a conference call on Feb. 24, multiple campaign officials laid out Bloomberg’s strategy for capturing Arkansas, as well as Oklahoma and Tennessee.

UAMS AR-IMPACT Program Receives $147K Grant from Blue & You Foundation
A new grant will help the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) expand its efforts to combat opioid addiction throughout Arkansas.
The Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas presented the health system with a $147,000 grant, which is earmarked for UAMS AR-IMPACT program, a digital health network that connects physicians with UAMS experts via live video to discuss opioid management and dependency reduction.

UA Little Rock Dedicates BIM Lab to AGC Arkansas
The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Arkansas has donated $30,000 to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to establish a fund to support the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Lab for construction management and engineering students.
“In the 21st century design workplace, contractors, architects, and engineers increasingly use building information modeling to collaborate over distances using virtual collaboration technology,” said Chancellor Christina Drale.
