Cromwell Architects Engineers, on behalf of UAMS, is seeking qualified artists or artist teams to submit qualifications to design and implement site-specific piece or pieces of artwork of original design for The Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH) in Little Rock. UAMS has identified four areas of opportunity for artistic enhancement. Artists and artist teams can demonstrate qualifications for 1, 2, 3, or all 4 of the art locations.
Cromwell stated that the commissioned artworks should celebrate the human body, movement and healing. The goal of the art is to enhance the experience and space of the patients, guests and staff of TOSH.
Artists interested in the opportunity can download a copy of the RFQ at www.cromwell.com/2022/03/14/call-for-artists/. Letters of intent to apply are due March 25 and final proposals are due April 11, 2022.
UAMS broke ground on the $85 million surgical hospital last April. With four floors providing more than 158,000 square feet in space, the hospital will be an extension of the UAMS Medical Center and will not replace the off-campus orthopaedic clinics now in Little Rock. The project team consists of architects Cromwell and Davis Stokes Collaborative and general contractor Nabholz Construction. UAMS TOSH is expected to be complete by spring 2023.
