Twenty-two cases of coronavirus are currently active in Arkansas, according to the state Department of Health.
The Department of Health updated its dedicated coronavirus website this morning to reflect the increase of six individuals with the virus. Yesterday (March 15), state officials announced that there were 16 individuals in Arkansas infected with the virus.
The cases are confined to a four-county region of Jefferson, Pulaski, Saline and Garland counties. Jefferson County has been the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak; the original COVID-19 patient in Arkansas is based in Pine Bluff. Jefferson County has the largest number of infections, with five to 10 infections according to an ADH graphic, while Pulaski, Saline and Jefferson all have less than five cases each.
Fourteen individuals are being investigated by the Department of Health for possible COVID-19 infections. In addition, there are 258 individuals being monitored by ADH.
Nationwide, there have been 3,813 coronavirus cases confirmed, according to Johns Hopkins University. At the global level, there have been a total of 174,786 confirmed cases with 6,705 cases attributed to the virus.
