Construction work on I-555 in Jonesboro is slated to begin Thursday, March 26.
This work had been delayed for two weeks as a result of adverse weather. The beginning work will include strengthening a 10-foot paved shoulder and extending it to 14-feet. This work will help support traffic while the existing lanes are renovated.
Work is expected to be done in two-mile stretches. More than four miles of reconstruction will be done in each direction in Jonesboro.
According to Arkansas Department of Transportation engineer Aaron Vowell, there will be a lane closure set up in the southbound lane of I-555 on Thursday, which will continue through Friday. It will be restarted the following Monday.
