Little Rock is launching a “virtual traffic court” to handle its case load.
The Little Rock District Court, 2nd Division will begin handling traffic court cases immediately, using a WebEx program. The 2nd Division oversees all traffic tickets that are issued within Little Rock’s city limits.
Officials have instituted the change as part of the city’s COVID-19 response. According to a City of Little Rock news release, the Little Rock court building is not expected to open until after July for public use. After the public opening, courtrooms will be limited to 10 or few people inside, including the judge and court employees.
Through the WebEx platform, defendants are allowed to join the court proceedings by video or phone. On the morning of a court date, defendants receive an emailed invitation and can join at the assigned time.
To be placed on the “cyber-docket” for traffic court, individuals must contact the court at TrafficCourtContact@littlerock.govor call 501-371-4733 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
