The Hot Springs National Park Sister City Foundation will host its annual Cherry Blossom Festival from 1p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, at Horner Hall in the Hot Springs Convention Center. The family-friendly event will be free to attend.
Since the affair has grown each year and draws participation and attendance from across the state, representatives say the decision was made to rename the event, The Arkansas Cherry Blossom Festival.
The 2022 festival will feature cultural demonstrations, musical and dance performances, and exhibits. This year ‘s festival will also include lectures and workshops for those wanting a more hands-on experience. An animé costume contest is planned as well as a variety of traditional Japanese carnival games.
Prizes for the First Annual Arkansas Cherry Blossom Festival Haiku competition will be awarded, with winners invited to read their haiku at the event.
The Sister City Youth Art exhibition will debut at the event before moving to the Garland County Library for the remainder of April.
Japan-based companies from across the state have been invited to participate by exhibiting items made in Arkansas to highlight the importance of these companies to our Arkansas economy.
