A hog farm located near the Buffalo River has been closed, according to state officials.
The closure comes after the state of Arkansas agreed to buy the farm in June. The owners of the C&H Hog Farms received $6.2 million for the farmland. Currently, there have been no plans announced for the use of the land.
“I appreciate the willingness of the farmers to work with us on this, and now look forward to the work that the state will be doing to ensure that the Buffalo National River continues to be the treasure that it is,” Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in a statement.
The state of Arkansas also received a conservation easement for the property as part of the buyout.
