Bruno Machado, M.D., has recently joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Urology team as a specialist in urinary system surgeries and minimally invasive endoscopic techniques.
Machado will now see patients in the Urology clinic and is an assistant professor in the Department of Urology in the College of Medicine.
Having more than 19 years of experience, Machado specializes in treating benign and malignant prostate diseases, surgical bladder diseases and vasectomy reversal. He uses minimally invasive techniques to treat kidney, ureter and bladder stones. He also screens for prostate cancer and uses the latest management practices for benign prostate enlargement and vasectomy procedures.
“We are happy to welcome someone with Dr. Machado’s training and expertise to our team”, said Rodney David, M.D., professor and chairman of the Department of Urology in a news release. “He strengthens the care we are able to offer our patients and the training that is part of our educational mission.”
Machado graduated with honors in 1999 and received his medical degree at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He then completed his residence in General Surgery at Hospital Geral de Nova Iguacu (HGNI), in Brazil. He went on to complete his residency in Urology at the Hospital Universitario Clementino Fraga Filho (HUCFF-UFRJ), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Machado also completed a Laparoscopic Robotic Surgery Fellowship at the Clinique Saint Augustin, in Bordeaux, France.
