Alan Turner has joined Be Pro Be Proud, an initiative led by the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and the Associated Industries of Arkansas (ASCC/AIA), as national communications director. Be Pro Be Proud is actively engaged in Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and is preparing to launch efforts in New Mexico and Tennessee in 2023.
“I am excited to join Be Pro Be Proud and see the continued impact it has on America’s next generation of skilled workforce,” said Turner. “Our team is focused on building a wide-range network of internal and external resources while implementing strategic communication efforts to continue the expansion of the program.”
Turner and his team will develop effective messaging and communications strategies for Be Pro Be Proud, as well as create and oversee the development of promotional and informative materials that Be Pro Be Proud will utilize to support mobile workshop tours across the country.
Two years ago, Turner returned to Little Rock to serve as vice president of marketing and sales strategy with Staley Technologies after five years as senior director of strategic partnerships with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Prior, Turner was the director of marketing for Stone Ward in Little Rock and has operated Turner Sponsorship Consultants for the last 15 years.
Be Pro Be Proud, founded in 2016, utilizes virtual reality technology inside mobile workshops to allow students to experience what it’s like to use an excavator, practice welding, drive a tractor trailer and work in construction, among other activities. The Be Pro Mobile Workshop has made more than 1,100 tour stops reaching more than 185,000 visitors to date. More than 60,000 people have “Joined the Movement” and have requested more information about training and job opportunities in technical professions within the construction, forestry, manufacturing, transportation and utility industries.
