Arkansas defensive coordinator Barry Odom is moving to Las Vegas to be the next head coach at UNLV, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of on3sports.
Odom was hired as defensive coordinator for Arkansas in 2020 and was 25-25 in four seasons. Before that, he spent four seasons as head coach at Missouri.
According to Razorbacks Wire, “With Odom out of the picture, Arkansas football will be back on the coaching carousel looking for someone to improve a defense that was ranked 124th out of 131 FBS programs in total defense this season. On top of that, the porous defense is going to have to find a way to replace some key contributors.”
On Dec. 8, Odom released the following statement regarding his departure:
“It has been such an honor to be the Defensive Coordinator at The University of Arkansas and live in this community for the past 3 years. My family and I are overwhelmed with gratitude… thank you!
I am so thankful for my players, Coach Sam Pittman, and Athletics Director Hunter Yurachek. I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to be On The Hill.
I also want to thank all the wonderful fans and support of the Razorbacks – you guys are the best. Continued Success… WPS!!”
