Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner Joe Morgan died this weekend at the age of 76.
Morgan, who served as AGFC vice chairman, died as a result of pulmonary fibrosis complications according to an AGFC news release.
Named to the AGFC in 2015, Morgan was Gov. Asa Hutchinson first appointment to the commission. His term was set to expire in June 2022. Hutchinson issued a statement addressing Morgan’s death on Saturday.
“Joe Morgan was my first appointment to the Game and Fish Commission due to his unmatched commitment to the outdoors and his character and integrity. He was an advocate for hunting and fishing in Arkansas long before he joined the Commission. Generations to come will benefit from his service to the state. He was a friend and will be missed. Susan and I express our condolences and prayers for the family,” Hutchinson said.
Sen. Tom Cotton also commented on Morgan’s passing in a statement on Sunday. “Joe Morgan was a fierce advocate for his friends and Arkansas’s outdoor heritage. We will miss him, and I hope that God will bring comfort to his family,” Cotton said.
A retired Chevrolet auto dealer, Morgan previously served on the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission.
