Arkansas Children’s reported Tuesday a record daily number of COVID-19 hospitalizations.
Twenty-four patients tested positive, a record 50 percent increase over the previous hospitalization peak, according to Executive Vice President Rick Barr.
Previous peaks occurred in early July and in January. Of the 24 patients, seven are in intensive care and four are on ventilators. None of the patients are fully vaccinated even though more than half are eligible.Â
The hospital appealed to families and the public to vaccinate eligible children immediately, and to continue to wear a mask and socially distance.Â
In the meantime, national media outlets were reporting Tuesday afternoon that the Biden administration will require all federal employees and contractors to be vaccinated or present regular testing results.
