The most celebrated Arkansas lawyers and legal institutions will now be enshrined in the Arkansas Legal Hall of Fame.
The Arkansas Bar Association has announced the creation of the first-ever legal hall of fame in the state. This hall of fame is designed to “honor Arkansas’ greatest lawyers, most revered institutions, most treasured traditions and other legends of the Bar,” according to an ABA news release.
“The Legal Hall of Fame will help us recognize the men and women who have made an extraordinary contribution to the law, society, the administration of justice and legal education. We invite all Arkansans, not just the legal community, to nominate individuals and groups who have helped shape justice and positively impacted our profession and state,” Arkansas Bar Association President Brian Rosenthal, said in a statement. “We want to share and preserve the significant contributions those in the legal community have made to enhance the lives of Arkansas citizens.”
Nominations are currently being accepted for the inaugural class of the Arkansas Legal Hall of Fame. This first class will be inducted during a ceremony held on Thursday, September 24, in Little Rock.
To be eligible for the hall of fame, nominees must have a close connection to Arkansas, which includes having been born in the state, raised in Arkansas, educated in Arkansas or practiced law in Arkansas. In addition, the nominees must have made an “extraordinary contribution” to the practice of law, justice, legal education or society.
Nominees must be at least 50 years old or have been deceased for at least three years.
Nominations are due by March 16, 2020.
