Julie Wood is the new CPO officially joining Arkana Labs in 2022 to lead the Human Resources department.
Arkana Laboratories, an esoteric pathology practice focused on improving patient care, welcomes Julie Wood as the Chief People Officer (CPO). The CPO is responsible for Human Resources (HR) which includes developing and implementing talent strategy, leadership development, and serving as culture and change champion in the practice.
Prior to joining Arkana, Wood owned an HR consulting firm specializing in helping small businesses and non-profit organizations understand and maneuver through complex HR challenges. Wood brings more than 20 years of global HR experience to Arkana. Before owning her own HR firm, she led the global HR function at Heifer International where she served as Vice President of HR Strategy and Operations.
Julie hopes to build an effective HR function at Arkana where employees understand how they are connected to the mission, as well as one that provides an employee experience that builds on the already inspiring culture. Wood said Arkana Laboratories inspires her because the employees are willing to go above and beyond to improve patient care, and she is excited to help them and their needs.
“I hope the HR team can serve as the voice of our employees and positively influence the decisions made that impact their lives.” Wood graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with an emphasis in Community Health from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and the Society for HR Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certifications. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Arkansas Alzheimer’s Association.
