The Arkansas District Export Council (AR DEC) is accepting applications for the 2022 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Global Trade to recognize the exporting success of small, medium and large Arkansas companies.
The Arkansas District Export Council is a nonprofit organization comprised of members of Arkansas’ exporting community, appointed by the US Secretary of Commerce to actively encourage manufacturers across the state to consider expanding their exports.
The focus for the 12th annual award is honoring Arkansas companies that have excelled in exporting and/or have developed a strategy to maintain or increase sales and workforce through exporting.
Applications are being accepted until August 19, and will be evaluated according to these factors:
overcoming trade barriers that resulted in capturing market share,
promoting regional export expansions,
overcoming foreign industry or sector biases,
developing novel trade promotion program to grow exports.
demonstration of international business growth over the past 3-5 years, and
whether this growth is likely to continue.
The award ceremony will take place on Oct. 5 during an evening gala banquet at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock.
In addition to self-nomination, economic development entities are encouraged to nominate Arkansas-based manufacturing or agriculture companies actively selling in international markets. The winners of the award will be presented with a trophy during the awards banquet and profiled throughout the year as the winner of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Global Trade.
The gala event also presents an opportunity for Arkansas business leaders to exchange ideas and success stories in international business and trade. Three levels of sponsorship are available for companies/organizations. Applications for the award and sponsor information can be found on the AR DEC website.
