Northwest Arkansas airline, Breeze Airways, is helping University of Arkansas football fans see the Razorbacks in the upcoming Outback Bowl in Florida. Breeze has added a morning flight on Dec. 31, that leaves Bentonville’s XNA at 9 a.m. and arrives in Tampa just before noon.
When the Hogs game against Penn State in Tampa was recently announced, local airlines reported that fans immediately began scrambling to snap up flights for the Jan. 1 game.
The fan-created surge led to limited availability and some airlines started charging more than $900 to make the roundtrip from Northwest Arkansas National Airport to Tampa.
The airline also added a Jan. 1 return flight that takes off for Northwest Arkansas around 6:45 p.m. eastern time. That will give fans time to see the game that starts at noon eastern time that day, then head to the airport afterward.
Breeze started flying nonstop from XNA to Tampa in June. Those trips on 118-seat Embraers take off every Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday.
