Registration is officially open for the 2019 Arkansas Rural Development Conference. The annual conference gives those interested in improving the quality of life Arkansas’ rural communities an opportunity to learn about services geared towards that goal.
The conference is hosted by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) Division of Rural Services. This year, it will be held at the Hot Springs Convention Center on May 14-16.
Conference participants will learn about AEDC programs that “assist communities and their leaders with development planning and revitalization efforts,” according to an AEDC press release. Among the topics discussed during the conference will be minority-owned businesses, rural hospitals, workforce development, highway funding, and more.
“Each year, the Rural Development Conference brings together hundreds of Arkansans who are dedicated to networking and learning about what’s working in communities across the state,” said Mike Preston, AEDC executive director. “This conference is for anyone who has an interest in learning about how they can impact and improve their community.”
University of Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek will deliver the keynote address at the Arkansas Rural Development Commission luncheonon Wednesday, May 15. On May 16, the Governor’s Luncheon and Awards ceremony will be held, and Gov. Hutchinson will deliver a keynote and award over $600,000 in grants.
